Whatcom Community College is seeking applications for a Program Specialist 2 (Class Code 107I) position in the College's student one-stop, Orca Central. Reporting to the Associate Director of Orca Central Operations, the Program Specialist 2 will support various operations of Orca Central including Advising, Financial Aid, TRIO & Student Support Services, Transitional Learning programs, and Running Start.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact at the Orca Central front desk, welcoming guests professionally
- Promote programs with external organizations and provide information to visitors
- Develop and deliver presentations to new and prospective students
- Monitor program performance and make recommendations for improvements
- Create and maintain program materials in various formats
- Direct new students through the onboarding process using available resources
- Maintain accurate student information using CTink, Starfish, and Microsoft Suite
- Support Outreach and Admissions with campus tours when needed
- Update Orca Central web pages and form submissions
- Provide assistance to departments with representation in Orca Central such as Advising and TRIO & Student Support Services
- Support Running Start program by managing inbox and phone line, assisting participants, and completing data entry
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Two years of experience in programmatic areas or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem-solving abilities
- Experience with facilitating small groups and public speaking
Salary and Benefits:
- Range 42, full-time Classified salary starting at $3,537 per month
