Job Description: Wood Glen Senior Living is seeking a dynamic and passionate Culinary Manager to join our team. This pivotal role oversees both the dining room and kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents. The Culinary Manager collaborates closely with our dietician to develop menus that promote health and well-being while satisfying culinary desires.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Menu Development: Collaborate with the dietician to create diverse and nutritious menus that cater to the dietary requirements and preferences of residents.
2. Kitchen Oversight: Supervise kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and sanitation practices, to maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality.
3. Dining Room Oversight: Supervise the service of residents, ensure dietary restrictions are being followed, train new staff, and coach current staff to ensure the best possible dining experience for residents and their guests.
4. Staff Management: Lead and motivate a team of kitchen and dining room staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure exceptional performance and teamwork.
5. Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections and taste tests to monitor the quality and presentation of meals, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
6. Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of food and supplies, ordering and replenishing as needed to minimize waste and ensure sufficient stock for meal preparation.
7. Budget Compliance: Work within allocated budget constraints, controlling costs while maximizing value and maintaining quality standards.
8. Customer Satisfaction: Foster a welcoming and inclusive dining experience for residents, responding promptly to feedback and addressing any concerns with professionalism and empathy.
9. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and sanitation regulations, maintaining accurate records and documentation as required.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in culinary supervision, preferably in a senior living or healthcare setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for seniors is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
