UPPCO is seeking an Electric Distribution Lineworker in Iron River, Michigan. This position involves hands-on tasks related to the construction, operation, maintenance, and dismantling of distribution and transmission lines of all voltage levels. Working under the guidance of our experienced Operations Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tackle challenges and take on additional responsibilities. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Completion of a 4-year accredited or certified lineworker/electrician apprentice program and/or attainment of Journeyman lineworker/electrician status
- Comprehensive knowledge of electric distribution and transmission work procedures, safety rules, electric distribution standards, applicable state electric codes and statutes, and underground facilities
- Class A CDL or ability to obtain/maintain a valid Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsements within 4 months of hire
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment like tracked vehicles, trenchers, and backhoes
- Availability for after-hours and emergency callouts, ability to be on-call, carry a pager on a rotating basis, and work long hours and overtime as necessary
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, perform heavy physical work, and work at heights above ground level with high voltage equipment
- Skills in tree trimming, meter equipment installation, streetlight work, underground facility location, and problem investigation
- Participation in safety meetings and adherence to personal protective equipment guidelines
- Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
- Positive attitude, motivation, and ability to work well with others and independently
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Residence within 30 minutes of UPPCO’s Iron River, Michigan Service Center
